We just finished up at TechCrunch Disrupt and had a blast. We participated in the hackathon, met almost 200 new startups, enjoyed talks by Marissa Mayer and Mark Zuckerberg, and even helped a nine year old find international fame.
The path to getting tickets this year was challenging because they released hackathon tickets in small batches. My fellow hacker Sainath Shenoy (@SainathShenoy) went above and beyond by decoding the Eventbrite website to determine the exact date and time of the next ticket release.
Of course the big news this year was Alex Jordan’s hack; Super Fun Kid Time. She gave a presentation laying out case for a kids playdate website and received a standing ovation from the crowd. Working with her father, Richard Jordan, and a designer, Piotr Bakker, they had a working prototype that looked great. I helped them manage the LaunchRock page and Twitter account and was able to see first hand the effect of getting massive press coverage from around the world.
